How does the commissions process work?
I take commissions on a first come, first serve basis. Each piece takes 6 weeks (minimum) from start to finish once a deposit is made. For extra large or more complex pieces, it can take longer which is something we can discuss at project intake.
The first step in the commission process is to complete the intake form on this page, which will provide me with details about the specifics of the request you have including: desired size, colors, and where the final work will go (in a home vs in a commercial space?).
Once I’ve received this, I may follow up with more questions which I can use to develop a proposal and cost for the commission that we will agree upon.
Though I do provide sketches, the nature of my work is in the moment, meditative, and organic. I use a shape-based system approach that allows me to make work in ways that an be unpredictable. This means that while I will deliver a final piece that is more or less similar to the proposal (colors, general composition), there may be minor differences between the two that emerge during the creation process.
25% of the total commission cost is due before any work starts, and the remainder is due when the work is delivered.
How much do commissions cost?
Commissions prices range from as low as $1,000, to over $10,000. The price is dependent on size and complexity of the commission, but these costs will be communicated up front before any work is done. I charge flat rates, the quote I give you at the beginning will not change.
Some standard sizes and costs:
12” x 18” - $1500
18” x 24” - $2500
36” x 48” - $4000
48” x 60” - $6000
60” x 60” - $8000
Murals - variable depending on size
What kind of commissions do you do?
I can take on both hangable fine art canvases/panels as well as murals and on site installations.
